PREMISE:
Nothing like your crass, horny friends messing up the field when all you're trying to do is get a date.
SYNOPSIS:
What do college girls want? Rich guys? Muscular guys? Smart guys . . . or just a nice guy with a heart-felt poem? This is what MARK ELIOT, wealthy heir of a famous poet, endlessly argues about with his crass, horny apartment mate, JOE.Joe's philosophy of women is that they want flashy diamonds, expensive clothes and perhaps a nice Bufori ride in the country, preferrably with lots of beer.
Mark, refusing to use his family name, wealth (about $30 million) or drugs to attract girls, tells Joe that his pagan philosophy is wrong. Mark's philosophy is that the finest women don't care about money or drugs. . . . they want a guy who's genuinely honest, unpretentious, and who has some talent . . . perhaps the ability to write good poetry. Mark is usually on the verge of winning this debate when STEVE, the most pretentious body-builder imaginable, or ROGER, a dishonest asshole with a Harvard degree, take Joe's side of the argument.
One day while Mark and Joe are parked outside a WAWA in a beat-up, $1,200 Pinto, a cute girl (CARLA) pulls up in her $120,000 Mercedes and gives Mark a promising smile. Joe doesn't know how to deal with this philosophical ripple, but Mark does. Pushing Joe out of the Pinto, he takes off after Carla as she leaves the parking lot. It's Mark's chance to prove his friends wrong and make it with the girl of a lifetime . . . only problem is he loses her in traffic.
After spending the next day pining, Mark decides to get out and look for Carla and hope he's not accused of stalking. But weeks go by as Mark persists in finding her with no luck. The only ones who DO luck onto Carla are Mark's crass friends: Roger, Steve and Joe . . . replete with THEIR philosophies of what women like.
By the time Mark DOES find Carla, she's a whole new woman.
